Fursan Endurance Cup 2022
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup 2022 set the benchmark for endurance worldwide. In this ultimate test of man and horse against time and the elements, riders navigated 120 km of AlUla’s rugged desert terrain.
“Natural but technical,” the Fursan Endurance Cup organisers worked to create a course that provided a challenging but level playing field. Veterinary inspections at the end of each endurance course loop, called the “Vet Gate,” made sure to uphold the highest standards of horse welfare. The horses were checked for dehydration, soundness, pulse and respiration. The health and safety of both horse and rider were critical.
Endurance riding is one of the few inclusive sports where men and women compete alongside each other for equal opportunities and recognition. AlUla is pleased to announce over 15% of the almost 200 riders in the Fursan Endurance Cup were female. Among those who competed was Margot Chazel of France, who took third place. AlUla is proud to support equality in sports.
The Fursan Endurance Cup brought 200 riders from over 30 countries. The farthest competitors journeyed all the way from South America. Finishing in a great show of sportsmanship, first and second place riders Federico Ferber and Andres Rivero of Uruguay held their hands up high as they crossed the finish line together.
