AlUla Skies Festival

From soaring above AlUla’s dramatic landscapes to gazing up at galaxies of stars, AlUla Skies Festival is a celebration of all things sky. By day, hot-air balloon flights offer breathtaking views from above; by night, the magic shifts to the ground with stargazing, moonlit concerts, and celestial experiences that awaken wonder. As Saudi Arabia’s (and the Gulf’s) first officially recognised International Dark Sky Park, AlUla is certified to protect its pristine night skies against light pollution. For Space Wanderers drawn to vast horizons and Inner Voyagers seeking quiet reflection, the festival offers a sense of perspective that’s as emotional as it is spectacular - under the clearest, darkest skies, where every star feels within reach.

Frequently asked questions

AlUla Skies Festival is a 10-day celebration of the sky, combining early morning hot air balloon flights, illuminated night-time displays, stargazing experiences, moonlit cinema, concerts, and more - all set against AlUla’s dramatic landscapes.

AlUla is the Gulf’s first certified Dark Sky Reserve, meaning it offers pristine, low-light conditions for stargazing and protecting the natural night sky - a rarity in the modern world.

A full balloon flight offers a serene ride high above AlUla’s landscapes at sunrise - drifting freely for panoramic views over canyons and rock formations. A tethered balloon ride, on the other hand, stays anchored to the ground, rising gently to a set height. It’s shorter, more accessible, and perfect for families or those who want a taste of the experience without going far.

While hot air balloon enthusiasts will find plenty of thrill, the Festival can be enjoyed by everyone, irrespective of age. From specially curated experiences that showcase AlUla's history and astronomy to adventure and exploration experiences, there's something for everyone.

Beyond sky adventures, the Festival offers a dynamic lineup of live music, food, cultural activations, and family-friendly experiences, creating an engaging and inclusive atmosphere for all visitors.

For morning activities, dress in layers - it can be chilly before sunrise. For evenings, smart casual with a warm layer is ideal for stargazing and outdoor events.

All updates with regards to the Festival will be listed on the page here. You can also follow @alulamoments on social media for updates and early bird offers.
