A New Hub for Archaeological Advancement

With its distinctive identity and diverse appeal, the inaugural AlUla World Archaeology Summit is poised to bring global recognition to the archaeological treasures and expertise of AlUla and Saudi Arabia as a whole. The landmark event will be a hub for archaeologic advancement, bringing together experts from around the world – including internationally renowned archaeologists, scientists, cultural heritage preservationists, business leaders, and celebrities – for engaging dialogues and experiential learning.

Understanding Yesterday for Tomorrow

The summit will focus on four major themes to provide a comprehensive deep dive into the past, present, and future of archaeology. The ‘Identity’ theme will guide our exploration into the intricate relationship we have with our heritage and connection to the past, and how archaeology shapes our personal and shared identities, while the ‘Resilience’ theme will search the wisdom of the past that can guide our future path. ‘Ruinscapes’ will touch upon archaeological paradoxes, practices, and dilemmas, and the ‘Accessibility’ theme will help to traverse the ever-critical elements of diversity, disability, and financial access to heritage.

Making a Difference

With over 60 speakers and panellists, the invite-only summit will deliver profound insights and groundbreaking discussions to explore how archaeology can help to demystify and solve the challenges of tomorrow. The summit's dynamic programme will feature five innovative session formats – Town Halls, Spotlights, Interactive Dialogues, Night Caps by the Fire, and Field Excursions – to enhance engagement and learning as well as gain hands-on experience in the field.

Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders

The Youth Forum, scheduled for the final day of the AlUla World Archaeology Summit, will provide a platform for young enthusiasts to engage with fundamental discussions to understand the past, present, and future of archaeology. Guided by inspirational speakers and moderators, participants will explore themes such as digital archaeology, education, training, and the interaction of archaeology with the environment and cultural identity.

Spotlighting Innovation

Alongside the main programme, the summit will host a compelling exhibition showcasing the latest technologies, trends, and breakthroughs in archaeology. The exhibition will be a platform for exchanging knowledge, fostering collaboration, and advancing the field of archaeology. Technology and equipment specialists, cultural resource management companies, and organisations empowered to drive archaeological research and studies will be among the attendees.
