Harrat Viewpoint, actually the summit of a volcanic mountain, opens in the late afternoon, enabling visitors to arrive and gaze down below at the Oasis, Old Town, and the wider valley before enjoying another wonderful Saudi sunset.

Where is Harrat Viewpoint?

The viewpoint sits on top of Harrat Uwayrid, a volcanic mountain situated in a lava field approximately 30 minutes by car from AlUla's Old Town.

How high is the viewpoint?

The Harrat Viewpoint is 1,219 metres above sea level and offers panoramic views of the Oasis, Dadan, Old Town, and more.

What will I find at the viewpoint?

Relax on comfortable sofa seating and enjoy the view while being warmed by fire pits as darkness descends.

How do I reach the Harrat Viewpoint?

You can drive yourself to the viewpoint, where you’ll find free parking. A series of sloping steps leads from OKTO down to the main viewpoint. As Harrat Viewpoint is an AlUla icon, many group tours or packages include it as a stop on their itineraries.

What should I wear?

Sitting high up means Harrat Viewpoint can be breezy and chillier than the valley below, especially in the evening so we recommend you wear a jacket.

What time is the viewpoint open?

Visitors can enjoy the scenic views from 1 pm to 9 pm.

Authentic Greek cuisine is served at OKTO. Led by chef Ntinos Fotinakis, the menu has an all-black theme inspired by the geology of AlUla. Reservations are not required, but it is highly recommended to make a reservation in advance as the restaurant can get quite busy.
