What Lies Within

Feb 11, 2022 - Mar 20, 2022

A groundbreaking array of artwork was on display in the award-winning Maraya from 11th February to 20th March 2022. What Lies Within brought together works from the past two decades by some of the most significant artists of Saudi Arabia and its diaspora from the private collection of Saudi female patron and collector Basma AlSulaiman.

What Lies Within
Saudi patron and collector Basma AlSulaiman shared her collection of incredible works from the past two decades by seventeen artists, curated by artist Lulwah AlHomoud. This collection preserved a remarkable visual record of Saudi heritage and reflected a journey in Saudi's public response to art. Spanning works on paper, painting, sculpture, photography, and installation, the varied exhibition conveyed the artists' and collector's connection to both local and global contemporary culture and showcased Saudi art on its own terms. The arts are a source of education and enrichment; Basma's collection held a remarkable visual record of the evolution of artistic forms.
